The official ball of the 2026 World Cup ‘Trionda’ has been unveiled

The official match ball for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, named ‘Trionda,’ has been revealed ahead of the tournament starting on June 11, 2026. This World Cup will be the first ever jointly hosted by three countries the United States, Canada, and Mexico and will feature 48 teams for the first time.

The unveiling took place at a grand event in Brooklyn Park, New York, attended by football legends Jurgen Klinsmann (Germany), Cafu (Brazil), Del Piero (Italy), Xavi (Spain), and Zinedine Zidane (France). Zidane showcased the new ‘Trionda’ ball, while the others held the official balls from the years they won the World Cup.

Made by Adidas, the official supplier of World Cup balls since 1970 and now producing its 15th consecutive tournament ball, the ‘Trionda’ honors the three host nations through its design. FIFA President Gianni Infantino explained that the ball’s design incorporates elements from the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

The name ‘Trionda’ combines ‘tri’ (three) and ‘onda’ (wave), representing the collaboration of the three countries. Its colors red, blue, and green symbolize the USA, Canada, and Mexico respectively. The ball also features distinct national symbols: the American star, Canadian maple leaf, and Mexican eagle.

Equipped with advanced technology and sensors, the ‘Trionda’ enhances the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) system, offering precise data to assist with key decisions such as offsides, goals, and handball calls. FIFA also ensured that the ball’s shape and surface engravings facilitate easier handling for goalkeepers.

The 2026 World Cup is set to conclude with the final on July 19, promising a historic event marked by joint hosting, cutting-edge technology, and the vibrant this ball, heralding a new chapter in football history.
