Noor Ahmad Joins Desert Vipers for ILT20 Season 4

Afghanistan’s talented left-arm wristspinner Noor Ahmad has signed with the Desert Vipers for the upcoming fourth season of the ILT20, replacing Wanindu Hasaranga, who will miss the tournament due to national duties with Sri Lanka.

At just 20 years old, Noor has already established himself as one of the most sought-after young spinners in global T20 cricket. His franchise experience spans multiple leagues, including the IPL, The Hundred, CPL, SA20, BBL, and PSL. He also featured in the inaugural ILT20 season (2022–23), representing Sharjah Warriorz in seven matches.

Noor is no stranger to UAE conditions, having played 14 T20s in the country 10 for Afghanistan and claiming 15 wickets at an average of 23.73 with an economy rate of 6.84. Joining the Vipers, he will reunite with fellow Afghan players Qais Ahmad and Faridoon Dawoodzai, adding further strength and familiarity to the squad’s spin department.

“I played in the first season of the competition, so I know what to expect from the conditions,” Noor said. “It’s great to have two other Afghanistan players in the squad—there will be some familiar faces when I walk through the door.”

The Desert Vipers have been one of the most consistent teams in ILT20 history, reaching the final in both previous editions but narrowly missing out on the title each time. They were beaten by the Gulf Giants in the inaugural final and fell to the Dubai Capitals in a nail-biting last-over finish in 2024.

The Vipers will kick off their ILT20 2025 campaign against the Dubai Capitals on December 2 in Dubai, in a rematch of last season’s final. Noor Ahmad is expected to be available for the entire tournament as the Vipers aim to finally lift their first ILT20 trophy.
