The excitement surrounding the Asia Cup reached its peak in the last week of July when the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) officially unveiled the tournament schedule. After a series of speculations and discussions, it was confirmed that the prestigious continental competition will take place in the United Arab Emirates. Both the venues and match timings have already been finalized.
According to the schedule, Bangladesh will play all their group-stage matches at the Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi. The tournament kicks off on September 9 and concludes with the final on September 28. A total of eight teams will participate, divided into two groups. Bangladesh has been placed in Group ‘B’ alongside Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, and Hong Kong. All six matches of this group will be hosted in Abu Dhabi.

Meanwhile, there’s ongoing discussion about Bangladesh’s umpiring representation in the tournament. A source within the BCB has revealed that the ACC has requested two umpires from Bangladesh to officiate during the Asia Cup. In response, the BCB is considering sending Masudur Rahman Mukul and Gazi Sohel as their representatives. The final decision is expected to be announced soon.
