After a long battle with injury, Hasan Ali made a triumphant return to the Pakistan national team, marking his comeback with a career-defining performance. In the first T20I of the series against Bangladesh on Wednesday in Lahore, the fast bowler delivered a match-winning spell, claiming 5 wickets for just 30 runs. His efforts powered Pakistan to a 37-run victory.
Hasan’s fiery spell dismantled Bangladesh’s batting line-up and restricted them to 164 runs while chasing 202. He struck early, removing both openers, before dismissing the dangerous Zakir Ali. Later, he wrapped up the tail by sending back Shariful Islam and Tanjim Shakib. His performance left the Bangladesh batters stunned and reaffirmed his value to Pakistan’s bowling unit.
Hasan ali 5/30

This five-wicket haul earned Hasan a special place in Pakistan cricket history. He is now the first Pakistani bowler to take a T20I five-for on home soil, surpassing the previous best performances by Mohammad Amir (4 wickets vs Sri Lanka in 2017) and Usman Qadir (4 wickets vs Zimbabwe in 2020).
Since Pakistan played its first-ever T20I at home on April 20, 2008, no bowler had achieved this feat in the country until Hasan’s performance – a milestone 17 years in the making.
Moreover, Hasan becomes only the fourth Pakistani bowler to register a five-wicket haul in T20Is, joining the elite group of Umar Gul, Imad Wasim, and Sufiyan Muqeem. Among them, Hasan is just the second fast bowler after Umar Gul to achieve this in the shortest format.
His return was not only about a personal milestone but also about making history. Hasan Ali is now the second bowler in Pakistan’s cricket history after Umar Gul to have taken five-wicket hauls across all three formats (Test, ODI, and T20I).
With this performance, Hasan has not just announced his return, but has also cemented his legacy as one of Pakistan’s most impactful pacers in modern cricket.
