Punjab Kings batters were in devastating form as they cruised to a comfortable 7-wicket victory over Mumbai Indians in the 69th match of IPL 2025 on Monday. Chasing a target of 185, Punjab reached the total with 9 balls to spare, thanks to explosive innings from Priyansh Arya and Josh Inglis.
With this emphatic win, Punjab Kings climbed to the top of the IPL 2025 points table. Meanwhile, Hardik Pandya’s Mumbai Indians concluded the league stage in fourth place, with no further chance of moving up. As the fourth-placed team, Mumbai will now head into the playoffs to play in Qualifier-2.
Punjab Kings win has also shuffled the standings. Gujarat Titans slipped to second place, while Royal Challengers Bangalore now sit third. Bangalore are set to face Lucknow Super Giants on Tuesday (May 27). If they win that match, Gujarat Titans could drop to third. In that scenario, the net run rate will determine whether Punjab or Bangalore finish at the top of the table. Regardless, Punjab are confirmed to be in the top two and will play in Qualifier-1.
Punjab Kings – 187/3
Mumbai Indians – 184/7

Earlier in the match at Jaipur, Punjab Kings skipper Shreyas Iyer won the toss and opted to field first. Mumbai Indians posted a total of 184 for 7, led by Suryakumar Yadav’s 57 off 39 balls. Hardik Pandya added a late flourish with 26 off 15, while Naman Dhir contributed 20 off 12.
In reply, Punjab chased the target with authority. Priyansh Arya smashed 62 off just 35 balls, including 9 boundaries and 2 sixes. Josh Inglis anchored the chase with a commanding 73 off 42 balls, striking 9 fours and 3 sixes. Their partnership ensured Punjab crossed the finish line with ease, reinforcing their credentials as title contenders heading into the playoffs.
