West Indies Announce Squad for White Ball Tour of Bangladesh 2025

Ackeem Auguste has received his first call up to the West Indies ODI squad for the upcoming white ball tour of Bangladesh in late October, replacing Evin Lewis, who is sidelined with a wrist injury. Khary Pierre, who debuted in Tests earlier this month against India, returns to the ODI squad as the third spinner alongside Gudakesh Motie and allrounder Roston Chase. Alick Athanaze also re-joins the team after playing his last ODI in December 2024.

Head coach Daren Sammy praised Auguste’s inclusion, highlighting the pathway Cricket West Indies is creating for emerging players, noting Auguste’s progression from the Under-15s and the Academy into the senior squad. The tour will comprise three ODIs played in Dhaka on October 18, 21, and 23, followed by three T20Is in Chattogram on October 27, 29, and 31.

Shamar Joseph, who missed the recent Test tour of India due to injury, is included in both the ODI and T20 squads, alongside Alzarri Joseph. Gudakesh Motie, managed carefully to conserve workload before the T20 World Cup next year, will also be part of the white-ball squads.

The T20I squad sees the inclusion of left-arm pacer Ramon Simmonds and wicketkeeper-batter Amir Jangoo, supporting captain Shai Hope. Simmonds has been gaining momentum with impressive recent performances including 13 wickets in CPL 2025 and a strong showing against Nepal in T20Is.

To prepare for subcontinent conditions ahead of the Bangladesh series, Motie, Keacy Carty, Sherfane Rutherford, Ackeem Auguste, and Amir Jangoo will undergo training at the Chennai Super Kings Academy. CWI’s director of cricket, Miles Bascombe, emphasized the importance of acclimatization and skill development specific to these conditions for the upcoming series and the 2026 T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka.
